BA in Psychology - Appalachian State University
MA in College Student Development - Appalachian State University
I've been in Academic Advising for 6 years, starting as a First Year Student advisor to Social Science Majors at UT Chattanooga. Then moving to the CLAS Advising Center at UNC Charlotte in 2014, where I served as the liaison to Communication Studies and developed the Pre-Communication Studies Group Advising Workshops. Before I started my career in Advisng, I worked with students in career and major decision making at both Wartburg College in Iowa and at Appalachian State University.
In my role as academic advisor, I enjoys helping students strategize for success in their educational and career goals through identifying necessary campus resources, building an academic program appropriate for a student’s strengths, and augmenting learning with experience beyond the classroom. I firmly believe that an educational program belongs to the student and it is ultimately up to him or her to map out a plan and make final decisions. I am here to help students fine tune that plan, ensure he or she is getting the most out of it, and make sure all necessary bases are covered. Therefore, when you meet with me, you will find that you will leave our session feeling the most confident and well informed if you come with a plan and questions in hand.
