At the National Association of Communication Centers conference held at UNC Greensboro March 29-30, Veronica Shoemaker, UNC Charlotte’s Communication Studies undergraduate student and University Speaking Center consultant, received the 2019 National Communication Association’s “Outstanding Undergraduate Tutor” award.

Shoemaker, who has served as a consultant since September 2017, received top honors for quality individual consultations and workshop engagements, leadership, mentoring and scholarship. She has earned professional opportunities, including presenting at Carolinas Communication Association and National Association of Communication Centers conferences and serving as a judge in the national Charlotte Motor Speechway Forensics competition.

University Speaking Center director and founder Debbie Baker stated: “The University Speaking Center would not have continued to sustain our quality of services without Veronica’s leadership, adaptability and exceptional public speaking competences. We are truly lucky to have her at our center!”

In addition to the consultant recognition, Shoemaker has been awarded membership in the National Communication Association.

UNC Charlotte continued to have a strong presence at NACC with three conference acceptances and all of the center team members presenting.
