Norander Critiques Responses to Kamala Harris Interruptions

Categories: News

A peer-reviewed academic journal covering media and communication studies from a feminist perspective has published a commentary and criticism article written by Dr. Stephanie Norander, Executive Director of UNC Charlotte’s Communication Across the Curriculum program and Associate Professor for the Department of Communication Studies.

In Dr. Norander’s piece for Feminist Media Studies, “Kamala Harris and the interruptions heard around the internet,” she wrote of the intersections of gender and race as examined by mainstream media as well as on social networks.

“The highly visible broadcast and subsequent commentary on the interruptions have generated important public discussion of gender, race, and politics,” Dr Norander wrote, and urged others to ask further questions on these topics.
