Long to Help Lead Southern States Communication Association

The new Second Vice President for the Southern States Communication Association is UNC Charlotte’s own Dr. Shawn Long, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs within College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Professor and former Chair of the Department of Communication Studies.

“I am humbled and grateful to be elected to this leadership position,” Long said. “SSCA is my disciplinary regional home. It is an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to help advance the mission of the association in my upcoming roles.”

Long will serve the association for four years in progressive leadership roles. As Second Vice President, he will plan and organize the Annual Theodore Clevenger Jr. Undergraduate Honors Conference in 2019. Then, as Vice President, he will plan the annual Southern States Communication Association conference in 2020. Long will assume the role of President of the association in 2021.
