Take a Trip to Peru With Communication Studies

Categories: News

The department of Communication Studies is currenlty enrolling students for a study abroad program in Peru. Led by Dr. Jillian Tullis of the Department of Communication Studies and based at the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) in Lima and Cusco, students will explore the role that culture plays in how people communicate about health. Students will interrogate the ways in which culture and its related practices influence conceptions of health and health care choices. The program will examine Peruvian culture through immersion and service/experiential learning, and will focus on understanding the ways the indigenous Incan culture influences contemporary understandings of health in Peru through service learning at a variety of health care settings in Lima and Cusco, as well as ancient sites such as Machu Picchu.
