Forensics Team Honored at Football Game

Members of the UNC Charlotte Forensics team were honored for their work this past Saturday as UNC Charlotte took on Coastal Carolina.

Under director of forensics Tim Horne, the team has received 149 awards since 2011, including 9 UNC Charlotte team sweepstakes awards, 8 pentathlon awards (reserved for speakers competing in 5 or more events) and 7 overall speaker of the year awards.

Standout members include Nicole Palacios who received 13 awards, Matthew Morales who received 20 awards Tori Karlek who received 22 awards and Hoke Pittman who received 49 awards during his three-year tenure with the team.

Over the past three years there have been 15 unique members of the team representing a wide and varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

The team has competed in 13 Forensics tournaments across 8 colleges and universities, averaging 12 wins per tournament.
